poladroid

this is the COOLEST thing in the whole world!

ok, maybe i was a little tipsy when i tried it last night, but it's seriously amazing. these are digital photos from my computer that i turned into awesome polaroids in just a few minutes.

the program is super fancy and makes all the right sounds and develops in front of you in real time and you can even shake it to make it go faster. you can stop developing if you like the way it looks or you can wait until it's fully "developed". insane!!

isn't baby grace the cutest?

click on the photos to see them large. the detail is super real.

design for obama

i ran across this amazing poster website when i was reading an article in the ny times by steven heller. the excitement that the obama campaign has created in the design community is very inspiring. you can also download the posters from the site and print them out for your nov 4th vote count party!

alejandra laviada

alejandra's art explores the connection between photography and sculpture. in her recent series, she created sculptures from found objects and then documented them beautifully with her photographs. her images are truly beautiful in their simplicity and the colors and compositions remind me of morandi paintings. i still need to see that show at the met.

you can see her work in person through november 8th at danzinger projects in nyc.

color photographs

this beautiful tartan ribbon is the first color photograph from 1861. insane. the flower still life is from 1905. both are so contemporary. it blows my little mind how old they are.

the tripod lamp, take 2

i think this is the one. the lamp that is. it's jonathan alder and it's a million times less money than the bddw one i was going crazy over last week.

metal wall art

i have been loving metal wall sculptures lately and 1st Dibs has some really sweet ones. i don't know if i can ever really commit, but i will keep an eye out when i'm shopping now for sure. gemma comas, a photographer shot this beautiful room with a pretty botanical wall sculpture.

james merrell

i love james merrell's photos. he just did a really pretty shoot for me in paris and the images are great and shockingly digital. most of the time i can tell the difference, but not with james. i love his interiors best! here are a few of his older shots.

les indiennes

i have been perusing the les indiennes site for years to drool over the beautiful pictures and lovely styling. i almost bought a pillow once from john derian, but you can't return items there and everyone knows that you have to see how it looks on the sofa before you know for sure if it's perfect, so i never did. i think i am finally ready. i just can't resist any longer.

oh, and i painted our den this weekend in a beautiful light soft gray. it's super fresh and pretty! pictures coming soon.
